Sir, as the country feverishly gets ready to elect a replacement for the presidential seat which you must constitutionally vacate by January 07; the mood of the nation is almost like in 1956 prior to that election leading Ghana to its Independence.
Mr. President, upon a sober reflection and an honest inventory of your stewardship, one thing comes to mind is a strong sense of emptiness with a deep insight from Tom Doherty’s maxim of the “Sword of Truth“, a time immemorial champion in the struggle of Good against Evil, that points to a sad observation: After you are leaving behind a legacy of a Naked Empire even though materially speaking there’s no want around you and your circle of Agyapadie family and friends.
Not wanting to go full length and into details for the sake of brevity sir, let me do just a quick recall of the salient ones among what i call your “masterpieces” that will remain your lifetime dented landmarks of your presidency.
- Pensioners, Workers & others Haircuts
- Agyapa shady Gold deals
- PDS scandal
- GHC 52 Billions GCB missing cash
- Year on year missing Petroleum receipts by PIAC & Auditor General Reports since 2017
- Collapsing of Banks & Financial Companies
- Conflicts of Interests laden & Inflated State/Public Procurements Contracts
- Bastardisation of State Institutions such as: The Judiciary – The Electoral Commission – The Security Services – The State Enterprises, etc…through nepotism; utmost partisanship; and impunity.
- A serious and grave International embarrassment for unnecessary Meddling in Internal Affairs of a neighboring country: Burkina Faso more obviously to gain some personal favours from Western entities.
- Deliberate and syndicated looting of public Assets & Resources under the State Capture Agyapadie Agenda.
Sir, it is not my intention to take much of your time and that of readers as we are all busily preoccupied with arrangements towards free, fair & transparent elections respecting without malice and caprices the will of the sovereign people of Ghana as even Jerry John Rawlings a strong military man and a revolutionary, did to the amazement of both Ghanaians & the world at large deserving the accolade of Father of the 4th Republic.
At this juncture Mr. President, your lack of humility, remorse, statesmanship and decorum at times through your public utterances live much to desire leaving an impression of condescendence, arrogance, sense of entitlement, ownership as though you rather doing the citizens a favor and never apologetic in your lexicon as in your body language.
Unfortunately quite a number of appointees including your vice and the EC chairperson have adopted same with similar sense of entitlement in their tone and language with total oblivion they are public servants first and foremost.
Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana once a noble country hitherto tagged with labels such as Dignity, Pride and Honour, has been brought down to its knees after missing its geopolitical compass had lost its gravitas as a beacon on the continent even if no longer the beacon of Africa with unholy alliances and personal/parochial interests induced foreign policies.
The least one talks about depravation of moral values, work ethics and the sense of patriotism the better, a direct fallout of over monetization of everything exacerbated by your governance where wrong is right provided one is on the good side of powers that be currently speaking; members, associates of your circle and their families and friends are just grabbing lands indiscriminately and victims are powerless before the Judicial system, in fact your Judiciary.
Mr. President, the last but not the least is your “Hidden” Agenda of a subtle or camouflaged 3rd Term bid smartly trying to circumvent the 1992 Constitution care of a Proxy Candidate in the person of Bawumia whom u used to circumvent your party constitution creating both the covert and overt feud not to mention the cracks one is witnessing today.
Let me assure you that ordinary Ghanaian voter had seen through those gimmicks and shenanigans. Any untoward move by an institution of state or a group of persons with roles of referee, arbiter, to go the neutrality bounds may not go scot free by one’s simple observation.
Unlike the last elections, the mood of the electorate for these 2024 polls scores something totally different. No wonder multitudes are talking of a Liberation or Second Independence of Ghana.
On this note Sir, please learn to deserve your victory!
As you cannot or never be a sole repository of knowledge, the same way you can’t everything right! It is up to the people to mark you and your governments.
There is no way you should mark yourself as that’s a trait of humility and apology and hand over peacefully as against unlike statesmanship utterances, contrary to the spirit and attitudes of self-aggrandizement.
Sir, this is simply the Syndrome of a Naked Empire by Terry Goodkind.
Yours Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen,
Prof Lino Foli ( PhD; D.D.E.)
