A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has reiterated his position that posterity will judge Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if he fails in the fight against galamsey.
He believes that the leadership of the country has a duty to ensure that the land and water bodies in the country are protected for the next generation.
So if they fail at their attempt to do the above regardless of the power they wield and the machinery at their disposal, they will be judged meanly.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko made this known while responding to someone on Twitter who pulled out an old tweet of his.
“I remember this tweet very well and the import of my post remains valid today as it was yesterday and for our President, our leaders and our society. Posterity will surely judge as meanly and legitimately so if we do not protect for future generations what was bequeathed to us,” he said.
Regardless of the investment made to help fight the menace of illegal mining, the fight seems to have failed as water bodies which were gradually gaining their natural state are currently polluted.
The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a meeting with the National House of Chiefs and MMDCEs reminded them of the need to intensify the fight and ensure that the environment is protected.
He believes that a concerted effort at ensuring that the menace is stopped will provide the needed results.
