President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, to closely monitor developments between Israel and Iran in a bid to safeguard Ghana’s progress in the fuel sector.
This directive was issued during President Mahama’s Thank You Tour of the Savannah Region, where he addressed stakeholders and residents in Damongo.
President Mahama expressed concern over the rising tensions in the Middle East and their potential impact on global oil prices and supply chains.
He emphasized the need for proactive measures to ensure that Ghana’s fuel sector remains stable and the gains made under his administration are not eroded.
“The global energy market is interconnected and any escalation between Israel and Iran can have serious consequences on fuel prices and availability.
“I have therefore asked the Minister for Energy and Green Transition to keep a close watch and take the necessary steps to ensure that the stability we’ve worked hard to achieve in the fuel sector is not undermined,” President Mahama stated.
He also reassured Ghanaians that his government remains committed to energy security, price stability, and sustainable fuel policies, despite global uncertainties.
President Mahama’s visit to the Savannah Region is part of his national tour to thank Ghanaians for their support and to reiterate his government’s commitment to development and inclusive governance.
