President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the welfare and professional development of teachers during a courtesy call by the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) at the Jubilee House on Wednesday.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on issues of mutual concern, particularly those affecting the teaching profession. President Mahama lauded the Association for its contributions to the education sector and its unwavering dedication to improving the lives of teachers across the country.
“I took the opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the GNAT leadership for their relentless efforts in shaping the future of our nation,” President Mahama said.
“The investments the Association continues to make in the teaching profession are commendable and vital to national development.”
He assured the delegation of his government’s commitment to improving the working and living conditions of teachers, stressing the importance of creating a supportive environment for educators to thrive.
“Our teachers are the bedrock of Ghana’s education system and essential partners in nation-building,” the President noted.
“Ensuring that they are well-compensated, work in conducive environments, and have access to continuous professional development is not just a promise—it is a necessity for sustainable national progress.”
The GNAT leadership, in turn, expressed appreciation to the President for his continued support and pledged the Association’s readiness to collaborate with government in promoting quality education for all Ghanaians.
