Ghana’s 4x100m relay team’s final result at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games has been disqualified.
It’s because of lane violation as a result of bad changeover of the baton in Friday afternoon’s final at the last 100m.
The quartet anchored by Sean Safo-Antwi finished seventh but the result was discarded as a result of the violation.
The Ghanaian team is the only African side to qualify for the final yesterday with a new national record of 38.08 seconds, making the final for the first time since Atlanta 1996.
Italy clocked 37.50 seconds to win gold in what is upset to set a new national record while Great Britain clocked a season best time to finish second by a hundredth of a second for silver.
Canada came third for bronze with a season best.
