A group calling itself the Coalition of Progressive Youth (CPY) has announced that it actively will be monitoring, assessing, and evaluate the various National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirants who will be standing in the parliamentary primaries in the greater Accra region.
This follows the opening of nominations by the party for persons interested in being parliamentary candidates to pick forms to contest in primaries scheduled for August 24, 2019.
Convenor of CPY Papa Kwabena Boadu in a statement said the group will focus on aspirants seeking to represent the NDC in Gbawe, Ngleshie Amanfrom- Bortianor, Obom Damiabra, Ablekuma North and Central constituency.
Papa Kwabena Boadu has also encouraged youth who are eligible to actively participate in the primary process by voting to ensure that elected candidates are competent enough to serve and help solve the challenges confronting their constituencies.
He added that the youth needs to push for a leader who has good intentions for their respective constituencies.
“The leader should be concerned about boosting the economy, education for all, stable electricity supply, flood, and sanitation, health facilities, good roads, unemployment among the youth, poor security, and other problems the youth are facing,” the group explained.
The coalition of progressive youth (CPY) is a pressure group made up of some youth members of all registered political parties in Ghana, non- governmental organisations, members of some Civil Society Organisations, and social and youth groups of the various religious bodies in Ghana.
