Ex-Ghana goalkeeper, Abukari Damba has implored beleaguered Black Stars shot stopper, Razak Abalora to pay attention to details.
Abalora has come under vile criticisms after his horrible howler gifted Morocco, a 1-0 win over Ghana in an international friendly in Rabat on Tuesday.
The Kotoko goalkeeper is synonymous with such petty yet unpardonable mistakes after displaying one against São Tomé in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers in Accra.
Damba, much as he does not want Abalora harshly criticized, believes the former WAFA goalkeeper must begin to pay attention to details.
“The onus lies on Abalora, he is the one in the seat, he is the one in the picture.
“That’s why I’m sad but these are the hazards of the situation as a professional.
“Because goalkeeping is a specialized department and you have to pay attention to details.
“When people are going after Abalora, crucify him, crucify him, I will not take that position but he has to take the responsibility.
“He has been given the opportunities and the mistakes are being repeated.
“But I pray that we have the right department to deal with the situation.” Damba told Africa-foot.com.
Abukari Damba has called for help from every quarter to help the former Azam FC goalkeeper come out of the problem.
“Currently he [Razak Abalora] is in a very bad state psychologically and he needs help.
“We must make conscious and deliberate effort, we must put structures in place to help this individual.
“If things of these nature happen, care must be taken to help or the victim can do the unthinkable.” Abukari Damba told Africa-foot.com.
Ghana lost 1-0 to Morocco through Jawad El Yamiq’s free header.
The Stars are home and will next play Ivory at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.
