Director of Communications for Ghana Gas Company Limited, Ernest Owusu Bempah has alleged that former President, John Dramani Mahama, is the faceless person behind the failed coup meant to overthrow the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Making these wild allegations on Net 2 TV, Owusu Bempah averred that the former president purposely planned the attack with the sole aim of taking over power from the Akufo-Addo-led government because of fears of losing election 2020.

According to him, Mahama sees no hope of securing a win in the 2020 general elections so in a bid to secure his spot, hires and sponsors people to orchestrate a coup.

“What shows NDC and Mahama know nothing about this coup? Look at NDC’s communicators and the things they say about the coup d’état and the line of communication shows they are defending it, to the extent that NDC lawyers have been called to defend those coup plotters. It’s a planned thing, if it were to happen in a different country, Mahama would have been picked up. Dr. Mac-Palm is one of the key people within the NDC so we don’t need a soothsayer to tell you that these people are behind it. The agenda is bringing us to this attention that, 2020 Mahama knows he’s not going to win the elections,” he revealed.

Describing the former president as Ghana’s worst president ever, Owusu Bempah, also known as Aboa Apapo, said all these brouhahas going on is because of Mahama’s greediness and desire for power.

“The former president, no wonder he took Ghana into an abyss; the worst president ever in the history of Ghana politics. He has exhibited it clearly. He never wanted to hand over power; same thing Otumfuo said which triggered reactions for him to insult the king. He never wanted to hand over power after losing 1million votes, he never wanted to,” he added.

Owusu Bempah further accused Mahama and his cohorts of trying to poison Samuel Nuamah Donkor, a former Managing Director of STC, after his name and one other popped up as the best candidates to be the former president’s running mate in the build-up to the 2020 elections.

According to him, “they are propagating an agenda that…right now in NDC, running mate has become an issue. I’ll give you 3 instances that show Mahama knows he can’t win the elections. So they did a research that they want a running mate, the research pre-empted two candidates who are Ashantis. One is Dr. Nuamah Donkor and former Deputy Minister for local government, Oppong Fosu”.

“So Mahama and his people refused to accept the two because they know 2020 they will not win, they will lose miserably and if they lose, the running mate he’ll take, will be so popular that the party will tell them to go and drop Mahama and bring either Nuamah Donkor or Oppong Fosu…And due to that, some people close to Mahama tried poisoning Dr. Nuamah Donkor at East Legon and the man knows. If not for God, he would have been dead by now. They say he’s not corrupt…They called him for a meeting at East Legon and poisoned him. God saved him, the reason he’s still alive,” he stated.

Moreover, he alleged that there is a huge misunderstanding between Mahama and the General Secretary of the NDC party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, but the latter is pretending to support the campaign of the former because of his money.

The issue he indicated started in 2016 when the former president gave a contract meant for him to his (Mahama’s) brother.

“Asiedu Nketia has a big issue with John Mahama. He’s just pretending to support the campaign because John Mahama has money. Asiedu Nketia before 2016 elections had an issue with Mahama because the former President gave a contract awarded to him to his brother. So he has never been happy. They even took him out during the campaign time. This is what Asiedu Nketia says ‘he has the money so let him waste it’ so this shows that 2020 elections, they know they won’t win. So these are all the strategies he is using to come into power. Everything Ofosu Ampofo said didn’t you hear?”

Cautioning Mahama and the NDC to tread carefully in what they do, Aboa Apapo said, “we’re giving them a warning that the things about to happen and the things we know and about to bring out will shock them.”
