Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew, scored three goals in a thrilling 4-3 win for Ghana over Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The win came in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match, giving Ghana two victories in the latest round of qualification games.
Ayew, who was back in the starting lineup against C.A.R., made his presence felt and showed why Black Stars head coach Otto Addo chose him. He scored a nearly perfect hat trick.
The Crystal Palace player scored from the penalty spot in the sixth minute, putting the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. He also scored with a header in the 60th minute.
His third goal came in the 69th minute when he swept the ball into the net with his right foot from just a yard away. Fatawu Issahaku’s shot in the 62nd minute was deflected, helping Ghana complete their comeback.
Louis Mafouta, the striker for CAR, also scored a hat trick, including an amazing free kick in the 90th minute. However, his great effort wasn’t enough, even though CAR was leading 2-1 at halftime.
Mafouta took advantage of two mistakes by Ghana’s defense in the first half to put CAR ahead. But Ghana played better in the second half and got back into the game.
Brandon Thomas-Asante, who was born in England and plays for West Bromwich Albion, made his first appearance for the Black Stars.
With three wins in four games, Ghana is now at the top of Group I with nine points.
