The Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Nana Toku says he is confident the NDC will retain the Amenfi Central seat despite an ongoing dispute over the outcome of parliamentary primaries.
His comment comes after the annulment of the results of the parliamentary primaries in Amenfi Central in the face of a dispute over the eligibility of one of the candidates.
The decision was made by the party’s Functional Executive Committee at a meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The outcome of the primaries was being challenged in court by some party members, who sought the annulment of the election of Joana Ghansah Cudjoe and an order for a rerun of the election over the eligibility of the winner.
Speaking to Radio Gold’s Coffie Emmmanuel on the sidelines of the campaign tour of NDC Running mate Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, Western regional Chairman of the NDC Nana Toku says the NDC’s popularity and strong grassroots support in the constituency make it impossible for the party to lose the seat, regardless of the outcome of the primaries dispute.
He said the party will emerge stronger and more united than ever, and will go on to win the seat convincingly.
“The cancellation of the primaries will not affect our chances of winning the Amenfi Central seat. We are ready to rerun the primaries and choose a new candidate who will lead us to victory in December,” Nana Toku said
