Residents of Nkwanta in the Western North Region defied heavy rainfall to block the convoy of Professor Opoku-Agyemang, the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Their demand was simple: they wanted to hear her speak to them.
Opoku-Agyemang, who is currently on a three day campaign tour of the Western North Region, was headed for Suaman constituency when she was impeded by residents of Nkawnta with chants of “We are suffering, Mahama is the only one who can save us!”.
Seizing the opportunity, the professor addressed the crowd, urging them to vote massively for John Mahama in the upcoming elections.
She educated them on former president Mahama’s plan to establish a women’s development bank, which would provide soft loans to traders, empowering women and boosting their standard of living.
The Western North Region, created in 2019, has faced challenges in accessing essential government services and developmental projects.
