The Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Opoku Agyemang has expressed deep concerns about the state of Ghana’s development.
According to her for every step forward made in developmental projects, the country takes ten steps backward.
Speaking to traders at the Koforidua Central market during a campaign tour, Prof. Opoku Agyemang called for a transformative change in leadership that not only reverses this trend but tackles the challenges facing the country.
She took on the current government, led by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for superintending over a situation characterized by a troubling lack of job creation, insufficient infrastructure development, and a series of unfulfilled promises.
“Ghana has retrogressed in so many areas; we should have advanced in infrastructure by now, but instead, we find ourselves in a cycle of setbacks,” she told the traders.
Prof. Agyemang said the NDC was committed to reversing the decline and putting the country back on a path of progress.
She outlined many key policies the NDC intends to champion to revitalize the economy and empower citizens, including the introduction of a Women’s Development Bank and the establishment of a 24-Hour Economy initiative.
The NDC Vice Presidential Candidate said her party’s ultimate goal is to fight for a brighter Ghana where citizens feel a renewed sense of confidence and hope, stressing that the rule of law should apply equally to all.
“The resources of the state do not belong to any one family, every Ghanaian contributes through taxes, and therefore every Ghanaian must benefit from the state’s funds.”
Prof. Opoku Agyemang urged the market women to vote for change in the upcoming elections,
“Do we want to progress or retrogress? The time for change is now, and together we can ensure that developmental projects reach every corner of our society, regardless of ethnic group or culture,” she said.
