John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a bold pledge to revamp Ghana’s security agencies if he wins the election.
During his two-day tour of the Greater Accra Region, specifically in Adjei Kwadwo, Tema West constituency, Mahama criticized the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for neglecting the security sector.
He emphasized that under his leadership, the NDC made significant investments in retooling the security agencies, contrasting this with the NPP’s lack of action.
Mahama stated, “The NPP has failed to govern effectively, and our security agencies are a clear example.
When the NDC was in power, we conducted the largest retooling of our security forces. Since then, the NPP has done little to support them.
“I promise that under the next NDC government, we will retool the security agencies to ensure they can protect us properly.”
Mahama’s commitment to security is also reflected in his manifesto, where he outlines plans for resetting Ghana, focusing on economic stability, infrastructure, and social equity.
His vision includes addressing the aspirations of Ghana’s youth, providing meaningful opportunities, and promoting inclusive governance.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Security and Public Safety: Retooling security agencies to ensure effective protection
- Economic Stability: Promoting economic growth and development
- Infrastructure: Improving infrastructure to support national development
- Social Equity: Addressing social inequalities and promoting inclusive governance
Mahama urged his supporters to remain vigilant and work hard to secure victory in the 2024 elections, expressing confidence in the NDC’s chances of winning.
