Education minister-designate, Haruna Iddrisu has reaffirmed the government of President John Mahama’s commitment to revive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country.
Haruna Iddrisu told the Parliamentary Appointments Committee during his presentation on Monday that the TVETs have been neglected by past governments and that more investment and modernization are needed.

He said that to make sure institutions under TVETs are prepared to train young people as highly qualified professionals, the NDC government will give them top priority.
Haruna Iddrisu also revealed plans to expand boarding facilities in addition to enhancing TVETs facilities especially in underprivileged areas, to ensure that educational resources are accessible to all students, regardless of their geographical location.
Touching on the subject of a possible review of the curriculum for colleges of education, specifically addressing the licensure examination for teachers, the Tamale South member of parliament assured the committee that the government was committed to ensuring that aspiring teachers are adequately prepared to enter the classroom.
