Ghana and the Africa Centre for Disease Control (CDC) have signed a data sharing agreement.to strengthen epidemic intelligence through data sharing to enhance cross-border Surveillance, Health Medical Research and Timely Response
The agreement will ensure a data sharing platform for member states that links public health institutions in each country to improve health outcomes.

Speaking at the official signing of the agreement ceremony in Accra, Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh observrd that Africa Centre for Disease Control, (CDC) has played a pivotal role in bridging Ghana’s Ministry of Health with key development partners and continental health initiatives.
‘’It has been a steadfast ally in shaping the country’s health policies and programs through technical support and supporting significantly an upgrade of the country’s capacity to manage public health emergencies’’, he said.

He noted that discussions regarding the agreement began with the country’s sector minister during the previous administration, adding that for decades, data sharing has been the pivotal point of key initiatives led by the Africa CDC in partnership with African Union member states with which Ghana belongs.
‘‘Your visit is a testament to the strong partnership between Africa CDC and our nation. A partnership that has been instrumental in advancing our shared vision for a healthier, more resilient Africa. Today, we gather not only to celebrate our achievements but also to reaffirm our commitment to Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want, a bold blueprint for sustainable development, health security, and self-reliance,” Mr Akandoh noted.
