On behalf of our President and members of the mining industry, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and the people of our beloved nation.
Their untimely demise represents a significant loss to Ghana. Each one of them was a committed public servant who made invaluable contributions to national development, paying the ultimate price in the line of duty.
The Chamber had the honour of working closely with both the Honourable Ministers for Defence and Environment in our collective efforts to address the challenges posed by illegal mining. Their unwavering support was pivotal in safeguarding mining concessions, protecting water bodies, and enhancing the security of mining operations across the country.
Their leadership and collaboration were foundational to the multi-stakeholder approach adopted to mitigate the impacts of illegal mining. Their absence will be profoundly felt, not only by the institutions they led but by all stakeholders dedicated to promoting sustainable and responsible mining in Ghana.
As we mourn their passing, the Ghana Chamber of Mines stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and the Government of Ghana. We remain committed to honouring their legacy by continuing our shared mission to protect the environment and enhance the security of our mining communities.
May the ultimate sacrifice of these eight (8) gallant Ghanaians, lead to an end to illegal and irresponsible mining.
May their souls rest in perfect peace.
