The National Lottery Authority (NLA), in partnership with the Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG), has announced the launch of a new mobile application aimed at sanitizing the lottery industry, boosting revenue, and improving efficiency by clamping down on illegal operators.
Key Features of the Initiative:
Sticker System: Licensed lottery ticket sellers will now be identified by an official NLA sticker, making it easier to distinguish them from unlicensed operators.
Registration Requirements: All authorized operators must register on the platform by September 1, 2025, ensuring transparency and accountability across the sector.
Annual Renewal: Lotto writers are required to complete the registration form and pay an annual fee of GH¢250, renewable every year to maintain their license.
Proof of Registration: Upon registration, operators will receive an official NLA sticker to be displayed at their kiosks or business premises.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Accra, the Director General of NLA, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, explained that the app—developed with technical experts and CLAAG—will be available on Android smartphones, with additional features that allow regular cellular phone users to register as well.
He emphasized that all legitimate operators working from physical structures, including kiosks, are expected to generate their licensed sticker through the app and emboss it on their operating facility.
