The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Weija Gbawe Municipality has organized an orientation and sensitization programme for newly recruited beneficiaries under its various employment modules.
The event, held on Wednesday morning, brought together young people posted to security, health, education, and community support units across the municipality.
Addressing participants, the Municipal Director of YEA, Vida Akorfa Asare, described the programme as a crucial step in preparing the youth for effective service delivery.
“Today marks an important moment in our commitment to empowering the youth of our municipality,” Madam Asare said.
“Our mandate as YEA is clear, to create employment opportunities, support skills development, and provide meaningful work avenues for young people across Ghana.”
The beneficiaries at the event were drawn from modules such as Community Police Assistants, Community Health Assistants, Fire Service Assistants, Prison Service Assistants, Arabic Instructors, and Youth in Trades and Vocational Skills.
According to Madam Asare, each beneficiary plays a vital role in strengthening the delivery of essential government services within the municipality.
“You are valuable partners in building the systems that serve our people,” she emphasized. “Your contributions are deeply appreciated, and your roles are important to the functioning of the municipality.”
Purpose of the Orientation
Madam Asare explained that the orientation was designed to clarify expectations, improve workplace ethics, and strengthen professionalism among beneficiaries.
“This programme ensures that every beneficiary understands not only what to do, but how to do it — with integrity, confidence, and commitment,” she stated.
She noted that the session covered YEA structures, reporting lines, duties, responsibilities, and standards that beneficiaries are expected to uphold.
Progress in the Municipality
The Municipal Director highlighted the progress made by the Agency in the Weija Gbawe Municipality, noting that many young people have been successfully recruited and deployed this year.
“We have deployed a significant number of beneficiaries across various modules,” Madam Asare said.
“Before the end of the year, we expect to increase our numbers even further, as we continue to build a stronger and more efficient workforce for the municipality.”
She added that the district is firmly on track in delivering on its mandate.
A Message to the Beneficiaries
Madam Asare urged all beneficiaries to demonstrate discipline, punctuality, respect, and professionalism in their respective fields.
“You must maintain good conduct at all times because you are ambassadors of the Youth Employment Agency wherever you go,” she advised.
“Work hard and be dedicated. Many past beneficiaries have secured long-term or permanent jobs through their performance and attitude.”
She encouraged them to take the opportunity seriously and view it as a pathway to a brighter and more secure future.
Closing Remarks
Madam Asare expressed her appreciation to all stakeholders, beneficiaries, and partners who continue to support the Agency’s work in the municipality.
“Let us continue working together to build a community where every young person has the opportunity to grow, contribute, and succeed,” she concluded.
The event forms part of YEA’s ongoing effort to promote skills development and enhance youth participation in national development across all districts.
