In a powerful demonstration of compassion and commitment to national wellbeing, the Ghana Month Donation Drive has drawn to a remarkable close marked by a generous GH₵1 million contribution from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

What began months ago as a simple conversation has blossomed into a life- changing act of giving. Back in October 2025, the Administrator of the Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, paid a visit to the NPA to explore a shared vision; one rooted in confronting the growing burden of non-communicable diseases across Ghana. It was during that meeting that a promise was made: a pledge to stand with the Fund in its mission to bring hope and healing to those in need.

Today, that promise was not only remembered, it was fulfilled.

Led by its Chief Executive, Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, together with the Board and management, the NPA turned words into action, presenting a GH₵1 million donation to support the Fund’s work. It was more than a financial contribution; it was a statement of belief in a cause that is quietly restoring dignity and saving lives.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Tamakloe expressed deep admiration for the strides made by the Fund in such a short time. He commended the passion and dedication driving its mission, noting that the donation was a heartfelt effort to ease the burden and extend its reach to even more Ghanaians battling chronic conditions.

He further pledged to champion a broader movement; rallying organizations within the NPA’s network to lend their support to the cause.

Visibly moved by the gesture, Ms. Darko-Opoku described the donation as both timely and  transformative. She acknowledged that while many appeals had been made, only a few had responded with such magnitude and sincerity. This act of generosity, she noted, comes at a critical moment as the Fund prepares for its official rollout—strengthening its capacity to touch more lives and deliver hope where it is needed most.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, she reaffirmed an unwavering commitment: to work tirelessly until every Ghanaian living with chronic non-communicable diseases can breathe a little easier, knowing that they are not alone.

As the curtain falls on this year’s Ghana Month Donation Drive, one message rings clear; when institutions choose compassion, and when promises are matched with action, lives are changed.

In that spirit of giving, the NPA has not only made a donation; it has ignited hope.
