President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level France-Africa partnership meeting focused on sustainable development, economic resilience, and global cooperation.
The Summit, organised by Emmanuel Macron, has brought together African Heads of State, international development partners, and global business leaders to strengthen collaboration on key economic and governance issues affecting the continent.
President Mahama, who currently serves as the African Union (AU) Champion for African Financial Institutions, is expected to play a leading role in several strategic discussions during the summit.
On Tuesday morning, the Ghanaian leader will participate in a high-level session on Green Industrialisation and Energy Transition, where participants are expected to deliberate on pathways for Africa’s industrial growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change and the global energy transition.
Later in the day, President Mahama will participate in a working lunch on the Reform of the International Financial Architecture. The discussions will focus on improving African countries’ access to sustainable financing and advocating for a more equitable and responsive global financial system that reflects the unique developmental needs of the continent.
As part of his broader continental engagements, President Mahama, who is spearheading the Accra Reset Initiative, will also co-chair a Round Table discussion on health under the theme: “Rethinking Global Health and Building Resilient National Health Systems.”
On the sidelines of the summit, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several prominent international figures, including António Guterres, Kristalina Georgieva, and Alvaro Lario.
The meetings are expected to focus on global cooperation, economic stability, food security, and financing support for Ghana and the African continent.
President Mahama is expected to depart Nairobi on Tuesday evening and return to Accra following the conclusion of the summit.
