The Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation and TDC Ghana Ltd, has partnered with ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms to establish a new company aimed at advancing the proposed Tema Integrated Industrial Park project.
In a statement issued on May 21, the parties announced the incorporation of Tema Integrated Industrial Parks Company Limited (TIIPco), a special purpose vehicle tasked with developing and managing the industrial park project in Tema.
According to the statement, TDC has already made available land adjacent to the Volta Aluminium Company smelter and granted TIIPco a Right of Entry to commence site preparation activities ahead of full implementation.
The industrial park, expected to cover between 100 and 120 hectares within the Tema Heavy Industrial Area, follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Shareholders’ Agreement among the partners.
The initiative forms part of the industrialisation agenda of President John Dramani Mahama and is expected to create jobs, promote local value addition, and strengthen Ghana’s manufacturing and export capacity.
The partners said the project seeks to support Ghana’s broader industrial transformation drive through the development of modern infrastructure capable of attracting investment and enabling the local processing of raw materials.
ARISE IIP, which operates industrial ecosystems across 15 African countries, is expected to bring its expertise in financing, building, and operating integrated industrial platforms to the project.
A sod-cutting ceremony for the full rollout of the Tema Integrated Industrial Park is expected to be conducted by President Mahama in the coming weeks.
