Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, have received a major international honour after being recognized by the United States House of Representatives for their impressive performance at the FIFA World Cup.
The team was presented with an official Congressional Proclamation by U.S. Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, in recognition of their achievements and contribution to the global football spectacle.

The proclamation was received on behalf of the Black Stars by Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mark Addo, during the GHPAC Global Pitch Philadelphia Forum in Pennsylvania.
The recognition marks another significant milestone for the Black Stars, whose performances at the World Cup have continued to earn admiration and respect from football fans and institutions across the world.
Beyond the honour bestowed on the national team, the event also served as a platform for Ghana to promote trade and investment opportunities in the United States. Organized as part of the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, D.C.’s commercial diplomacy initiative, the forum sought to leverage Ghana’s World Cup participation to strengthen economic partnerships, attract investment, and expand business opportunities between Ghana and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The gathering brought together government officials, business leaders, and representatives from key institutions, including the U.S.-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, the Ghana Free Zones Authority, and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.
Officials noted that Ghana’s growing visibility during the FIFA World Cup presents a unique opportunity not only to showcase the country’s football talent but also to highlight its economic potential and investment prospects on the global stage.
The recognition by the U.S. Congress is expected to further boost the profile of the Black Stars while reinforcing Ghana’s efforts to transform sporting success into broader diplomatic and economic gains.
