Programs Coordinator of the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS) Atta Arhin has admitted to Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive he thought the sector minister was being jovial with her 85% score for Accra’s cleanliness.
The sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah was convinced her outfit’s efforts were near perfect but chose to be moderate and award herself an 85% score.
She said was confident the journalist would have scored her 100% if given the opportunity.

The CONIWAS Project Coordinator Atta Arhin said he nearly mistook the statement for joke until the minister told the journalist to quote her words.
He asked what indicators the minister used in arriving at the 85%.
According to him, the Sanitation ministry has since its establishment failed to put in place agreed indicators or a blueprint that will form the basis for the kind of scoring or assessment that the minister attempted to undertake in the interview.
He therefore questioned the scientific basis for the minister’s score.
He wondered if the minister into consideration, Accra’s population and the ready access to improved sanitation for every resident within the agreed area.
Atta Arhin also wants the Sanitation minister to come clear on the extent to which the rate of open defecation was considered in her assessment.
CONIWAS Project Coordinator also wants some clarification on the rate at which sanitation related diseases were on the decline and how this statistics fed into the minister’s assessment.
He is however convinced that the 85% score was unrealistic.
