Leader and 2024 Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has advised African countries to make concerted efforts develop their human capital.
This he said was a necessary if the continent was interested in propelling its economies to attain socioeconomic Development
The Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama made the observation during an interaction with students at the London School of Economics on the theme “Leveraging the technological revolution for Africa’s transformative growth”.
“Africa needs to develop the human capital required to propel our economies forward. The digital landscape, for example, was vastly different when I last spoke at the LSE a decade ago. Many job roles we see today were non-existent or just emerging in Africa” he noted.
John Dramani Mahama observed that the Africa job market was rapidly evolving thus the continent’s education systems must also evolve.
“We must embrace technology and innovation and expand beyond academic learning to emphasize vocational and technical training” he said.
Mr. Mahama further observed that the career aspirations of African children reflect the technological evolution happening globally.
He said it was the responsibility of leaders to ensure that they are prepared for the future job market.
