The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has made a serious allegation against Attorney General Godfred Dame. According to Gyamfi, the Attorney General is allegedly plotting to imprison the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, by any means necessary in the ongoing ambulance case.
During the cross-examination of the third accused person, Richard Jakpa, on Thursday, May 23, startling revelations came to light. Gyamfi disclosed to the media that the Attorney General has been making overtures and contacting the third accused at unusual hours in an attempt to extract incriminating testimony against the Minority Leader.
Gyamfi expressed shock at the revelations made by Jakpa under cross-examination. “We were all in court to monitor the proceedings, but we were shocked to the marrow when the 3rd accused under cross-examination disclosed to the court that the Hon Attorney General has been reaching out to him, calling him over the phone that he has reached out to him and met him in person,” Gyamfi stated.
He further added that the Attorney General had allegedly asked Jakpa to provide false testimony to the court and manipulate his statements to corroborate the AG’s case against the first accused, with the intention of securing a conviction and jail sentence for the Minority Leader.
The NDC has consistently maintained that Dr Ato Forson is innocent and that the case against him is baseless. The Minority Leader has already presented his case and concluded it.
These serious allegations against the Attorney General raise concerns about the integrity of the legal process and the impartiality of the prosecution in this high-profile case. The revelations made in open court have cast a shadow over the proceedings and warrant further investigation to ensure that justice is served fairly and without bias.
As the case continues to unfold, the public will be closely watching to see how these allegations are addressed and whether any evidence emerges to substantiate the claims made by the third accused under cross-examination.
