National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called on the party’s Members of Parliament and government appointees to remain truthful and accountable to the people they serve.
Speaking at a rally in Okaikwei South as part of his nationwide “Thank-You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia cautioned that dishonesty in politics ultimately damages both individual reputations and the credibility of the party.
He warned that “there is always disgrace for any politician who constantly lies to the people of Ghana,” stressing that the NDC must distinguish itself through honesty and responsible leadership.
According to the NDC Chairman, the party’s credibility and public trust depend largely on the conduct of its elected officials and public servants.
“Our people have endured enough broken promises and empty rhetoric,” he said, adding that honesty, transparency and accountability must guide the actions of all party representatives in government and Parliament.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized that anything short of these values would not only damage the reputation of the NDC but also undermine confidence in Ghana’s democratic system.
The “Thank-You Tour” is aimed at appreciating party activists, volunteers and grassroots supporters who contributed to the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
At the event, Okaikwei South Member of Parliament, Ernest Adomako, echoed the chairman’s message, stressing that integrity must remain central to political leadership. “Honesty is not just a slogan; it is a survival strategy for our democracy,” Mr. Adomako said.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia has consistently highlighted the need for ethical conduct in public life, warning that persistent dishonesty erodes public trust and weakens the foundation of political parties.
He urged party officials to uphold the confidence reposed in them by the electorate and to ensure that their actions reflect the values the NDC seeks to promote.
