President John Dramani Mahama has been conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Administration by Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.
The prestigious university said the honour recognizes President Mahama’s distinguished contributions to national transformation, economic development, and his engagement with the global academic community.
The honorary degree was formally awarded on March 13, 2026, during a ceremony led by the leadership of Yonsei University, including University President Yoon Dong-sup and Dean of the Graduate School Kim Hyun-chul.
In its citation, the university acknowledged President Mahama’s leadership in strengthening democratic governance, promoting infrastructure development, and advancing Ghana’s engagement with international partners and institutions.
The recognition comes as President Mahama continues his five-day working visit to South Korea, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between Ghana and South Korea in areas such as technology, trade, education, and industrial development.
Yonsei University, one of South Korea’s most prestigious institutions, noted that the honorary doctorate also reflects President Mahama’s commitment to knowledge exchange and collaboration between academia and government in addressing global development challenges.
