A member of the Ghanaian Clergy has revealed that the National Cathedral project would cost $350million.
Dr. Benny Woode who is the President of Concerned Clergy Association says the cost might go up in the face of increasing cost of building material.
His disclosure to Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation on Radio Gold comes in the wake of growing public outrage at leaked documents that showed that over GH¢57million cedis was released to two separate entities working on the National Cathedral Project.
The first leaked document is a letter written by the Minister of Finance Ken Ofori Atta to the Controller and Accountant General Department ordering the release of GH¢25million as “additional seed money” to the National Cathedral Secretariat for the construction of the cathedral.
The other leaked document is titled the Office of President Actuals from January 9 December 2021 which captured the release of GH¢32,070,103.02 to account number 2210801 in the name of David Adjaye & Associates Limited for “Payment of Consultancy Services on new bids opening and interviewing of contractors rendered on the National Cathedral Project.”
These payments which have been admitted by government have baffled Rev. Benny Woode who has engagements with the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral Project.
Rev Woode who is the Founder and leader of the Leadership Chapel International said the releases were inconsistent with the arrangement for Ghanaian churches to own and fund the project.
