Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), Dr Naomi Wolali Kwetey, has reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and strengthening Ghana’s small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector through greater access to finance, business advisory services and financial literacy programmes.

Delivering her address at the 6th Women in Trade & Investment Conference and SME Fair held at the CBG SME Centre in Blackmore, Kokomlemle, Dr Kwetey said women-owned businesses remain central to Ghana’s economic transformation and pledged that CBG would continue to provide the financial tools needed to help them thrive.

The three-day conference and SME Fair, which runs from July 29 to 31, has brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs, business owners, exhibitors, policymakers, financial institutions and development partners to showcase products and services, build business networks and explore financing opportunities.

The event forms part of CBG’s broader commitment to promoting entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and the sustainable growth of women-led enterprises in Ghana.

Addressing participants, Dr Kwetey described the conference as an important platform for celebrating the resilience, innovation and entrepreneurial achievements of Ghana’s SMEs, particularly women entrepreneurs who continue to create jobs, expand businesses and contribute to national development.

“This event provides us with the opportunity to witness the exceptional talent, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our local businesses,” she said, noting that women entrepreneurs continue to break barriers, create opportunities and inspire positive change within their communities.
She said this year’s theme, “Financial Avenues for Women Entrepreneurs,” reflects CBG’s belief that empowering women is essential to building a stronger economy.

“We firmly believe that women are key drivers of economic growth, innovation and national development. Their success translates into stronger families, thriving businesses and more resilient communities,” she stated.
Dr Kwetey stressed that CBG is positioning itself as more than a commercial bank by serving as a long-term partner to entrepreneurs through tailored financial solutions.

She said the Bank offers a broad range of products and services, including savings and investment products, flexible financing options, business advisory services and financial literacy programmes aimed at helping entrepreneurs start, expand and sustain their businesses.
According to her, these interventions are designed to equip business owners with the knowledge, confidence and financial capacity to make informed decisions, strengthen business management and achieve sustainable growth.

With scores of SMEs exhibiting products and services at the fair, Dr Kwetey encouraged participants to take full advantage of the networking opportunities by building strategic partnerships, exchanging ideas and exploring new markets capable of accelerating business growth.
She assured entrepreneurs that CBG remains committed to listening to their needs and providing financial solutions tailored to businesses of every size and across all sectors of the economy.

Calling for greater collaboration to unlock the full potential of Ghana’s SME sector, Dr Kwetey urged participants to leverage the opportunities presented by the conference to grow stronger and more competitive businesses.
“Together, let us unlock the financial opportunities that will empower more women entrepreneurs, strengthen our businesses and contribute to building a more prosperous and inclusive Ghana,” she said.
