Member of Bolgatanga Central Isaac Adongo has raised questions about the decision of the Adhoc Committee set up by the Speaker of Parliament to hear the censure motion against the finance minister Ken Ofori Atta to strike out allegations of conflict of interest against the minister.
According to Isaac Adongo the issue of whether or not the finance minister was a part owner of the financial institution Databank was not in doubt.
He said under Ken Ofori Atta’s tenure Databank has become a constant presence in the issuance of all Ghana’s bonds.
The Bolgatanga MP wondered whether the Minister did not benefit from the monies Databank has made from being a bookrunner of Ghana’s bonds.
Databank has been elevated to the status of bond specialists alongside Black Star Brokerage which is owned by Charles Adu Boahen who served as deputy to Ken Ofori Atta from 2017 to 2020 before being made Minister of State in charge of Finance from 2021 until he was fired in November 2022.
