“What the finance minister did yesterday was to announce the death of the economy and release the funeral dirges that we will be singing to bury the economy but failed to tell us when the wake-keeping is taking place.”
“Effectively what the Finance Minister did was to say Ghana has no economy and we want to see how we can start afresh.”
That is the response of Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Isaac Adongo to the announcement of a “Debt Exchange Program” by the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta.
The program was announced by the minister as part of moves to tackle a worsening debt crisis confronting the country.
The Bolgatanga Central MP told Sena Nombo on the Gold Morning Conversation that he was shocked at the treatment of the process as if “it is a normal process.”
According to him the fact that Ghana has decided to undertake a restructuring of his debt was testament of the fact that Ghana’s economy suffered a major shock.
