The Children’s Support Fund, set up to ensure the welfare of children who lost their parents in the August 6 helicopter crash, has received more than GHS 7.29 million and US$20,000 in donations.
The donations, made between September 12 and 24, came from individuals, corporate institutions, and government agencies.
Notable contributors include Risk Management Ltd., Federated Commodities, Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sida Global Logistics & Eng Ltd., the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its agencies, as well as Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra.
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of government and the affected families.
“We are humbled by the outpouring of generosity from all corners of society.
These contributions will go a long way in securing the education, healthcare, and general welfare of the children left behind by this tragedy,” Dr. Sawyerr said.
She further encouraged more donations to sustain the initiative, noting that “every cedi and every dollar counts towards giving these children hope and a future.”
The Fund has provided account details with Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, Stanbic Heights Branch, to facilitate contributions.

The August 6 helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of several individuals, left behind children now under the care of extended families and guardians.
The Support Fund was created to guarantee their welfare in the wake of the tragedy.
