The National Safety Campaign has petitioned the Ministry for Roads and Highways to remove all tollbooths across the country as they pose a danger to motorists.
It would be recalled that the 2022 fiscal year budget presented by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Ken Ofori Atta outlawed the payment of tolls and ordered the closure of tollbooths on November 17, 2021.
Since the closure of the tollbooths, infrastructure have remained on many highways across Ghana, with many in a state of disrepair and deteriorating.
In a press release issued and signed by its Coordinator Christopher Opare Biney, National Safety Campaign said it has “monitored closely, the collapse of booths along most of the routes posing danger to motorists and other commuters.
NASACA is by this pleading with you to clear them off the highways or scout a use of the facilities to the benefit of the economy, in line with the nation’s move for advanced road safety.
