The inter-ministerial committee established to address the Akosombo dam spillage disaster has failed to engage victims of the flood.
This was disclosed by Member of Parliament for the Central Tongu Gabby Alexander Hottordze in an interview with Sena Nombo on Gold Morning Conversation.
The 13-member committee which is headed by the Chief of Staff Frema Opare was announced in a statement issued by the Information minister in the aftermath of the floods that has inundated some 11 constituents following the massive spillage of water from the reservoir of the Akosombo Dam.
The Central Tongu MP Alexander Gabby Hottordze says the three Tongu constituencies on being informed of the inter-ministerial committee set up a committee of high profile opinion leaders from the three constituencies to engage with the inter-ministerial committee.
MP Gabby Hottordze said the membership of the committee includes all three Members of Parliament from these constituencies, District Chief Executives, and some prominent Chiefs who have been waiting to hear from the inter-ministerial committee.
The Central Tongu MP said the committee is yet to receive any communication from the inter-ministerial committee.
The members of the inter ministerial committee includes Minister of National Security Albert Kan-Dapaah, Interior Minister Abrose Dery, Defence minister Dominic Nitiwul, Energy minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and Finance minister Ken Ofori Atta.
The other members of the committee are Works and housing minister Francis Asenso Boakye, Minister for Roads and Highways Kwesi Amoako Attah, Minister for Environment Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Sanitation minister, Freda Akosua Prempeh, Lands and Natural Resources minister Samuel A. Jinapor, Information minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and minister for Local Government Daniel Kwaku Botwe.
