The Concerned Nurses and Midwifery Association of Ghana (CNMAG) has issued a sharp condemnation of the recent verbal attack launched by Dr. David Tenkorang-Twum, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), against the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday, CNMAG described Dr. Tenkorang-Twum’s language as “highly unacceptable and unbecoming of a leader of his stature,” stressing that his conduct falls short of the decorum expected of senior professionals in the health sector.
“While we continue to stand firmly with our fellow nurses and midwives in their legitimate concerns and struggles, we find the language and description he used in reference to the Honourable Minister of Health to be highly unacceptable,” the group stated.
Signed by CNMAG President Abena Serwaa Akoto and Secretary Francis Asaba, the release emphasized that leadership, especially at the national level, requires “maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to express dissent without resorting to personal attacks.”
The association said Dr. Tenkorang-Twum’s comments threaten the integrity and image of nurses and midwives across the country and called on him to reflect on his conduct and “demonstrate better judgment in his engagements.”
“We urge him, and by extension all leaders within our noble profession, to uphold the highest standards of decorum and professional conduct in public discourse,” the statement continued.
The group reiterated its commitment to the welfare of healthcare workers while urging stakeholders to remain focused on constructive dialogue and mutual respect.
