The Coalition of Concerned Farmers of the Western North Region has issued a strongly worded statement condemning what it describes as “disgraceful insults” hurled at Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, by Dr. David Tenkorang, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
The group accused Dr. Tenkorang of making reckless, disrespectful, and politically motivated remarks that go against the principles of professional conduct expected from leaders in the health sector.
“Dr. Tenkorang has abandoned his responsibility to defend the welfare of nurses and midwives and has instead reduced himself to a partisan attack dog, shamelessly echoing the propaganda of his political paymasters,” said Isaiah Kwarteng, Convenor of the Coalition.
According to the group, the GRNMA Secretary-General’s comments are not only an attack on Minister Akandoh but also an insult to nurses, midwives, and farmers across the country who believe in unity and progress over partisan division.
The Coalition has issued the following demands:
- Immediate Apology: Dr. Tenkorang must apologise not only to Minister Akandoh but to all health professionals and farmers whose integrity he has “dragged into partisan politics.”
- Clarification from GRNMA: The leadership of the GRNMA is being challenged to state whether it supports Dr. Tenkorang’s conduct or will distance itself from his “political posturing.”
- Call for National Unity: The Coalition urged Ghanaians to reject what it sees as a coordinated attempt to distract the Health Minister from his work to “reset the healthcare system.”
The group reiterated its dogged support for Hon. Akandoh, describing him as focused and committed to restoring dignity and accountability in the health sector.
“The health of our people is too important to be toyed with by partisan opportunists. We the people of Western North stand firmly with the Honourable Minister,” the statement concluded.
The press release was signed by Isaiah Kwarteng, Convenor of the Coalition, and made available to the media on August 21, 2025.
