The Coalition of Civil Societies Organization (CSO) Against Political Vigilantism is calling on President Nana Akuffo Addo as Head of the National Security to publicly condemn the attack and arrest of the two journalists by men alleged to be national security officials.
The arrest is believed to be related to two publications made against the National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah by the online portal.
The suspects Emmanuel Adjafor and Emmanuel Britwum were alleged to have been detained and tortured amidst electrical shocks to their bodies.
The CSO’s coalition in a statement condemned the act and called on the President to do same and to as a matter of urgency to institute a formal investigation to unravel the truth of the matter.
“We also call on the President of the Republic of Ghana who is the Head of the National Security Council to come out and condemn this attack on these journalists and institute formal investigations into the circumstances leading to the torture of these Journalists by members of the National Security”
They are also reminding the National security of their constitutional mandate which is to protect the lives of the citizenry and not to traumatize people who are working for the good of the country.
