A Surgeon Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah seems to have started counting the cost of the New Patriotic Party primaries as far as Ghana’s COVID-19 pandemic is concerned.
According to her, the open disregard of the preventive protocols by delegates, candidates and party members during the parliamentary primaries of Saturday sends a conflicting message that would impact public reaction and infection rates.
President Akufo-Addo dedicated a significant portion of his 12th COVID-19 National Broadcast to cautioning people to wear masks or risk facing the law whiles encouraging citizens to observe the remaining protocols.

Dr. Ayensu-Danquah however tells Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive the President’s caution may go unheeded because he failed to set an example with the primaries of the governing party.
She also wondered if the President appreciated the seriousness of the public health crisis the pandemic presents.
Social media users have been sharing pictures and videos of party supporters without masks gathering and celebrating amidst hugs in the presence of state security.
The Surgeon who said she witnessed some of these scenes firsthand, says the open show of disregard for the protocols would only embolden some Ghanaians who believe the pandemic no longer poses a threat.
She says Saturday’s NPP Parliamentary primaries have the potential of sparking a new spark in Ghana’s COVID-19 cases and wondered if the President applied two sets of rules for the average Ghanaians and his party members.
Dr. Ayensu-Danquah bemoaned the open flouting of laws enacted by the government to keep COVID-19 contained.
She called on President Akufo-Addo to be consistent with his messaging on COVID.
