The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital seems to be reeling under the COVID-19 scourge as it is forced to significantly review its operations at the Surgical department as a result of the unavailability of some key staff.
The Deputy Director of Medical Affairs of Ghana’s foremost referral hospital in a memo issued today 6 July 2020 to “All Heads of Department,” reveal a “recent surge of COVID-19 infections among staff working in the Surgical areas.”
This comes in the wake of concerns expressed by the Ghana Medical Association on the alarming rate of COVID-19 infections among health professionals especially medical doctors.
The Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in the memo said the situation has affected majority of its surgical staff.
“This has necessitated self-isolation of majority of these staffs.
The development has forced the hospital to “suspend all urgent cases for Two (2) weeks.”
