SIC Insurance PLC is seeking to expand its partnership with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) beyond its existing relationship, with new areas of collaboration expected to include research, innovation, entrepreneurship, insurance education and student development.

Managing Director of SIC Insurance PLC, James Agyenim-Boateng, outlined the company’s interest during a courtesy call on the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. Christian Agyare.
Mr. Agyenim-Boateng led a delegation comprising members of SIC’s Executive Committee and Senior Management to congratulate Prof. Agyare following his assumption of office and discuss opportunities to strengthen ties between the two institutions.

He said the relationship between SIC and KNUST has been built around a shared interest in education, excellence, innovation and national development, and indicated that the insurer was ready to explore new areas where industry and academia could work together.
Among the areas identified for deeper cooperation are research and innovation, insurance education, entrepreneurship, sustainability, student development and industry-academia partnerships.

Mr. Agyenim-Boateng also highlighted SIC Insurance’s support for the SONSOL Project, pointing to it as part of the company’s broader investment in education, skills development and opportunities for the next generation.

The proposed collaboration could provide a platform for KNUST’s academic and research expertise to interact more closely with industry, while creating opportunities to equip students with practical knowledge and skills relevant to the changing demands of the workplace.
Prof. Christian Agyare welcomed the engagement and expressed his readiness to work closely with SIC Insurance PLC.

He pledged KNUST’s support for efforts to further strengthen what both institutions described as an enduring and mutually beneficial relationship.

The discussions signal an effort by SIC Insurance and KNUST to move their partnership into new areas that connect academic knowledge, innovation and skills development with practical industry needs.
