Ghanaian politician and former Ablekuma South parliamentary candidate, Daniel Nii Amasah Kotey, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Kotey, a Greater Accra Regional Executive and Director responsible for Inter-Party Relations and Civil Society Organizations, said his decision to contest was motivated by a desire to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and build a more coordinated, inclusive and election-ready regional organization.
Declaring his intention, he said his political experience had prepared him for the task of organizing the party across the region.
“My political journey has been shaped by grassroots service, constituency engagement and practical campaign experience. I have seen firsthand the strengths of our structures and, equally, the areas where stronger coordination, communication, training and logistical support are required.”
According to him, his responsibilities as a Regional Executive have provided him with extensive experience engaging different groups and stakeholders, including persons with disabilities, creatives and cultural organizations, traditional leaders, the clergy, civil society organizations, youth groups and political stakeholders.
He said these engagements had strengthened his skills in communication, negotiation, relationship building, coordination and inclusive leadership.
Mr. Kotey also highlighted his experience during the 2024 general election campaign, when he worked across the Greater Accra Region with constituency executives, branch officers, organizers, communicators, volunteers and grassroots members.
“The 2024 campaign gave me a clear understanding of what works within our party structures and what must be improved. We need an organization that does not become active only when elections are approaching. We must organize throughout the year.”
He said, if elected, his administration would prioritize stronger coordination between the Regional Secretariat, constituencies and branches, while ensuring that party officers receive timely information, training and practical support.
Mr. Kotey stressed that the position of Regional Organizer required teamwork and collaboration rather than individualism.
“No Regional Organizer can succeed alone. I will work with every member of the Regional Executive Committee, constituency executives, branch officers and the various party caucuses. My approach will be consultation, coordination and collective responsibility.”
He further pledged to combine traditional grassroots mobilization with modern communication and campaign tools, including digital systems, professional video production, creative content and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
“Technology must strengthen, not replace, grassroots organization. The branch remains the foundation of the NDC, and the grassroots must remain at the centre of everything we do.”
Outlining his vision, Mr. Kotey said he would focus on building an energetic, responsive, united and year-round regional organization.
He identified youth leadership, disability inclusion, engagement with the creative industry, stronger relationships with traditional and religious leaders, and coordinated engagement with the Zongo Caucus and other community structures as key areas of priority.
“Every constituency and every branch must receive fair attention. Our people must know that the Regional Organization is accessible, responsive and ready to support them. We must build a system where nobody feels forgotten.”
Mr. Kotey also called for unity during the party’s internal elections, saying his campaign would be based on issues and competence rather than personal attacks.
“I am entering this contest to serve, not to divide. I reject intimidation, personal attacks and misinformation. We are one political family, and after the internal elections, we must remain united for the larger work of strengthening the NDC.”
He said his experience in grassroots mobilization, campaign planning, field operations, volunteer coordination, stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, media relations and digital communication would position him to provide effective leadership as Regional Organizer.
Concluding his declaration, Mr. Kotey appealed to delegates and party members across Greater Accra to support his candidature.
“I am ready to serve. I am ready to organize. I am ready to work. Together, let us build a Greater Accra Regional Organization that is organized, inclusive, responsive, united and ready to win.”
