The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has led all agencies under the Ministry in a frank and constructive engagement with the Ministry of Finance, led by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, to assess the state of Ghana’s energy sector.
The high-level engagement provided an opportunity for the two Ministries and their respective agencies to openly discuss the challenges confronting the energy sector, particularly the critical relationship between energy-sector operations and public finance.
Dr. Jinapor said the discussions were frank and constructive, with stakeholders examining the structural and financial challenges affecting the sector and identifying practical measures to strengthen its sustainability.
He noted that the reforms being implemented by the Government were already making meaningful progress in addressing some of the longstanding structural challenges within the energy sector.
According to him, Government remains committed to sustaining and deepening the reforms, strengthening the financial sustainability of the sector and improving coordination between the energy and finance sectors.
Dr. Jinapor further stressed that a financially sustainable energy sector is critical to Ghana’s economic growth and development.
He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to building a reliable, resilient and financially sustainable energy system capable of supporting households, businesses and the broader national economy.
