Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Gabby Alexander Hottordze is questioning claims that government has constructed 800 structure aimed at eliminating the double track system.
According to media reports the structures include, classroom blocks, dormitories, administration block, assembly halls, and laboratory as well as toilet facilities.
In addition, government has also rehabilitated and expanded existing facilities to enable the school to have enough space to cater for first year and continuing student.
The double-track system which took off on September 11, 2018, was introduced to reduce the pressure brought on senior high schools by the large numbers of candidates admitted under the free SHS system.
The new structures are being built to create adequate space to accommodate the growing number of new admission into senior high schools.
However speaking to Sena Nombo on the Gold Power Drive MP for central Tongu Hottordzi says no school in his constituency have benefited from this intervention of government even though they are heavily constrained by the double track system
“I think it would have benefited, which is my constituency. I am yet to sight anything. No structure has been erected”.
