The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled power interruptions in parts of the Batsonaa enclave to facilitate major upgrade works at the Batsonaa Primary Substation.
In a press release issued on May 22, 2026, ECG said the exercise forms part of the government’s Transformer Replacement and Upgrade Programme aimed at improving electricity supply reliability and reducing system overloads within the distribution network.
According to the company, the project involves replacing an existing 20/26 MVA power transformer at the Batsonaa Substation with a higher-capacity 30/39 MVA transformer.
ECG indicated that the upgrade works are scheduled to take place from Sunday, May 31, to Monday, June 1, 2026.
The power distributor explained that the exercise follows the successful completion of similar upgrade projects at the Adenta, Nmai Dzorn, Lashibi, Teshie-Nungua, and Kumasi Ridge primary substations.
“To facilitate the safe execution of the project, there will be phased and scheduled power interruptions within the Batsonaa catchment area,” the statement noted, adding that customers in affected communities should expect outages lasting approximately six hours.

ECG said a detailed outage timetable, including affected areas and specific time blocks, would be communicated through its official channels.
The company apologised for the inconvenience the exercise may cause and assured customers that every effort would be made to complete the project within the scheduled period.
ECG also appealed to customers for patience and cooperation as it works to improve electricity service delivery across the country.
