The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga North, Hon. Akwetey Agbo, has announced a comprehensive slate of development projects across the municipality, spanning education, health, roads, sanitation, agriculture, and security.
He said the Assembly remains committed to closing infrastructure gaps and addressing long-standing community challenges despite limited revenue.

Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, Hon. Agbo said the Assembly is intensifying efforts to improve service delivery and accelerate development across Ga North.
Relocation of Pokuase Bus Terminal to ACP Junction
A major update from the MCE was the relocation of bus operators from the congested Pokuase bus stop to a newly prepared terminal at ACP Junction. He described the move as part of the Assembly’s broader decongestion strategy to ease traffic and enhance public safety, especially during the Christmas season.
“We want our chiefs, queen mothers, transport operators, and all stakeholders to support this relocation. It will benefit everyone,” he said.
Education: Flooded School to Get New Block
Hon. Agbo disclosed that St. Joseph School in Ofankor suffers severe flooding whenever it rains, sometimes forcing pupils to clear water from their classrooms before lessons begin.
“We are working to ensure that St. Joseph gets a befitting school block,” he assured.

He added that additional classroom blocks for other schools would soon be completed to permanently address similar challenges. Improved sanitation in schools, he noted, has resulted from strict directives issued by the Municipal Education Directorate against open defecation and littering.
Health: Four New CHPS Compounds to Be Constructed
The MCE announced several key interventions in the health sector, including:
- Completion of a CHPS compound at Afiaman
- Resolution of water challenges at Amanfrom
- Construction of four new CHPS compounds at:
- ACP
- Omanjor
- Two new facilities in Asofan
“These projects will strengthen healthcare delivery and bring essential services closer to residents,” he said.
Roads: Contractor Mobilised for Long-Delayed Omanjor Road
Hon. Agbo described poor roads as one of the most persistent concerns in Ga North, particularly in Omanjor, where residents have complained for over 15 years.
He confirmed that work has begun on the major Omanjor stretch, with contractors fully mobilised. “I am confident that by Christmas, a significant portion of this road will be completed,” he stated, adding that drainage and related infrastructure projects are also underway in several communities.
Agriculture: Support for Poultry and Fish Farmers
Reiterating the Assembly’s pledge to agribusiness and job creation, the MCE said more than 200 households registered under the Assembly’s poultry programme will receive their birds this week.

Support has also been extended to farmers engaged in fish farming, poultry, and other agricultural ventures, with the Assembly providing fridges and various essential equipment. “These programmes will boost household incomes and strengthen food security,” he said.
Security and Sanitation: Improved Street Lighting Across the Municipality
Hon. Agbo highlighted significant improvements in street lighting following the replacement of faulty transformers and installation of new streetlights.
Communities that have benefited include:
- The Olebu stretch
- ACP to Locktown
- Afiaman
- All 14 electoral areas
- The Ofankor Barrier underpass, previously considered unsafe at night
The MCE noted that traders, especially women operating under the bridge at Ofankor, can now work safely at night due to improved lighting.
Two public toilet facilities, one at Ofankor Barrier and another within the municipality have also been renovated to improve hygiene. Meanwhile, sanitation teams continue to sweep major streets daily as part of efforts to maintain cleaner communities.
Assembly to Occupy New Office Complex by January
The MCE disclosed that the Assembly is still operating from rented premises, a situation he described as financially draining. However, work on the new Assembly office complex at Ofankor, which stalled between 2018 and 2019, has resumed and is nearing completion.
“By the end of this year, or latest by January, we should move into our new office complex. This will save us huge rent expenses,” he noted.
He urging motorists to exercise caution during the festive season and wished residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
