The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has enlisted award-winning musicians Shatta Wale and Medikal to spearhead a national campaign promoting locally manufactured gold jewellery, as part of efforts to position Ghana as Africa’s leading hub for gold value addition.
The two artistes met with the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., to formalise a strategic partnership under which they will use their influence to showcase Made-in-Ghana gold jewellery to local and international audiences.

As ambassadors of the initiative, Shatta Wale and Medikal pledged to wear and promote GoldBod Jewellery through their music, public appearances, social media platforms and international performances, including ShattaFest UK, with the aim of increasing global recognition for Ghanaian craftsmanship.
Welcoming the collaboration, Mr. Gyamfi described the partnership as a major step towards expanding Ghana’s jewellery industry and accelerating the country’s transition from exporting raw gold to producing high-value finished products.

He said strengthening the local jewellery sector would stimulate investment, create sustainable employment opportunities, and ensure that more value from Ghana’s mineral resources is retained within the national economy.
According to him, the partnership demonstrates the important role Ghana’s creative industry can play in promoting local enterprise and supporting industrialisation through the Made-in-Ghana campaign.

The initiative forms part of GoldBod’s broader strategy to encourage local processing and manufacturing, while positioning Ghanaian gold jewellery as a competitive brand on the global market.
By bringing together two of Ghana’s biggest music icons and the country’s gold industry, GoldBod aims to use entertainment and cultural influence to expand market opportunities for local jewellers, promote Ghanaian craftsmanship, and drive economic growth through value addition.
