The Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson has told Radio Gold he is confident of securing a renewed mandate in the December elections.
He said this during a conversation with Radio Gold on the sidelines of a recent campaign visit of his constituency by National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang.
The NDC Running mate has been in the Central region for more than a week.
James Quayson told Radio Gold despite the difficulties he has encountered, he has managed to undertake some developmental initiatives to benefit his constituents.
James Gyakye Quayson captured national attention when he fought of unending attempts to reclaim his seat in a bitter by-election in his constituency.
The by-election was the result of the decision of the High Court which declared his electoral victory in 2020 null and void.
Reflecting on the by-election, Jame Gyakye Quayson said “It was a clear distinction between justice and development.”
He emphasized his commitment to the constituency, stating, “I will do everything in my capacity as a member of parliament to bring development to Assin North because that’s what they voted for me for in the last year.”
Notable among projects he has undertaken is the ongoing construction of the Tweankay Bridge, which is vital for connecting the capital town of Assin Breko to other regions, thereby facilitating trade and transportation.
Gyakye Quayson expressed the belief that his constituents will reaffirm their support for him during the December elections in appreciation of his work.
“I see Assin North renewing my mandate because they appreciate the work I’m doing. I also appreciate the dignity, respect, and resilience needed to fight for them,” he asserted.
