President John Dramani Mahama is urging supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to exercise restraint and avoid attacks, following recent incidents of violence and unrest.
Speaking at the NDC Thanksgiving event at the National Mosque, Mahama emphasized the importance of unity and harmony, despite differences in opinion and political affiliation.
Mahama acknowledged that elections can be challenging and divisive, but stressed that these challenges should not be allowed to tear the country apart. Instead, he encouraged Ghanaians to work together towards a common goal of building a better future for all.
The president specifically cautioned against repeating the mistakes of the past, referencing the actions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2017, which were widely criticized.
He reassured the nation that his government is committed to doing things differently and maintaining the trust and confidence of the Ghanaian people.
Mahama also announced that the government formation process is underway, with ministers and officials being appointed in the coming days.
He urged Ghanaians to remain calm and patient during this transition period, emphasizing the importance of restraint and unity in building a more prosperous and harmonious nation.
