President John Dramani Mahama has commenced a two-day #ResettingGhana tour of the Northern Region, aimed at deepening citizen engagement and assessing the impact of government policies on local communities.
The visit, which began on Saturday, April 18, 2026, marks the second leg of the nationwide tour following an earlier engagement in the Bono Region.
According to the Presidency, the tour is designed to create a platform for direct interaction between the President and citizens, particularly through traditional authorities and community leaders.
“This tour provides an opportunity for the people, through their traditional leaders, to engage the President directly, offer feedback on government policies, and highlight concerns that require attention,” a statement said.
President Mahama is accompanied by key ministers of state and heads of public institutions.
During the visit, he is expected to cut sod for the construction of 24-hour markets in selected districts and inspect ongoing development projects across the region.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to stimulate economic activity and improve infrastructure nationwide.
On Sunday, the President will host a major town hall meeting at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, where government officials will present updates on key policy interventions.
“Government will open itself up for scrutiny as appointees take turns to explain major interventions implemented over the past year,” the statement added.
The #ResettingGhana tour is expected to strengthen accountability, enhance public participation in governance, and provide a clearer picture of how government programmes are impacting livelihoods across the country.
