John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has rejected Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s claim that Ghana’s economy needs an upgrade rather than a reset. Mahama argued that the nation is already broken and requires a reset, not an upgrade.
During a media engagement, Bawumia stated that Ghana’s economy needs an upgrade, referencing Mahama’s campaign message. However, Mahama countered that something broken cannot be upgraded. He used the analogy of a faulty engine, saying it needs to be reset before it can be upgraded.
Mahama emphasized that his call for a reset extends beyond the economy, encompassing governance, attitude, and overall national transformation. He reiterated that his reset agenda is comprehensive, addressing various aspects of Ghanaian society.
This exchange highlights the differing approaches of the two political leaders, with Mahama advocating for a fundamental transformation and Bawumia pushing for incremental improvements.
